Membership

The West Kootenay Métis Society welcomes everyone interested in supporting and celebrating Métis culture. Our community thrives when people connect, share, and participate, and there are several ways to engage depending on your background and membership status.

MNBC Members

If you are a registered member of the Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC), you can join our local society as a member with full privileges, including the right to vote in local elections and participate in governance decisions. Your MNBC membership helps connect our local community with the broader Métis Nation in B.C.

Local Métis Members

If you are Métis but not currently registered with the MNBC, you can still attend events, join workshops, and take part in community activities. Non-MNBC members are welcome in all activities but do not have voting rights in MNBC elections.

Friends and Supporters

We also welcome friends, supporters, and allies who are not Métis but want to participate in our community. You can attend events, help with projects, and support Métis culture in the region. Non-Métis participants are not eligible to vote in elections, but your contributions and involvement are always valued.

No matter your background, everyone is encouraged to take part, learn, and celebrate Métis culture with us. Membership helps strengthen our community, ensures you receive updates on events, and gives you a chance to connect with others who share an interest in Métis heritage.
