Bison Burgers

Charly's bison burger recipe! Quick, easy and delicious!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs ground bison fresh or frozen (thawed)
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion salt OR onion powder - just add extra salt
  • 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp fresh cracked pepper
  • 1 tsp salt - to taste!
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Equipment

  • 1 cast iron pan
  • 1 burger patty mold OR use your hands!

Method
 

  1. 1. Mix all ingredients together in a medium bowl (avoid over mixing)
    2. If you're using a burger patty mold use as instructed or create patty using your hands. I find that I need to use a ton of pressure to make sure the meat stays together (refrigerate for at least 30 minutes)
    3. Heat pan to medium-high (hot but not smoking)
    4. Add patties to pan, cook on each side for about 4 minutes or until internal temperature of 147 F
    **Note: If you are using cheese place on the second side and add a lid to your pan and cook for an extra 1.5 minutes to allow cheese to melt
    5. Once the burgers are cooked, take off heat, place on a plate and allow them to rest for about 5 minutes
